At 4.85mm thick, the R5 from Chinese manufacturer Oppo is the new slimmest smartphone on the planet.Behind its 5.5-inch AMOLED Full HD screen, the Oppo R5 packs an
octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor clocked at 1.5GHz, 16GB of
storage and 2GB of RAM.
The device is marginally thinner than the previous champions, the Kazam
Tornado 348 and Gionee Elife S5.1, both with a thickness of 5.15mm. It will go on sale before the end of the year for just under $500.
Despite its slim frame the R5 is equipped with exceptional technology
including an Octa-core Qualcomm MSM8939, and comes with a 5.2 inch
AMOLED screen giving the highest brightness.
The device is 4G compatible and runs Android KitKat. Its 13MP photo and video camera is capable of filming in 4K.
R5 is the world's first smartphone that uses phase-change materials,
keeping it at a constant cool temperature of whilst maintaining superior
functionality. The R5's patented heat dissipation technology "Cool
Element" protects its Octa-core CPU, in turn prolonging the life of the
phone.
