Here are a few tips on how to capture a great picture. Happy snapping!
1. Try something new: We come across several pictures
every day. Would you like to see the same type of photograph each time?
Of course not! So, try and come out of your comfort zone and capture the
same situation/object in a different way. It will give you
extraordinary results. Ordinary things captured with different angles
can make a difference and make it an extraordinary picture.
2. Change your camera setting: Try and experiment with
the settings on your camera. Change the shutter speed or aperture for
different effects. If you have a DSLR, try setting it on manual mode
before taking a picture. Every setting gives you a different photograph.
3. Focus! A photograph is considered to be good only if
it has a proper focal point or focus. Imagine if you were taking a
picture of your pet and instead of focusing on its face, the background
of a tree it is leaning against is in focus and your pet's face looks
blurred… That is obviously a bad picture! A photograph is meaningless if
you do not focus on the subject. It's like a letter without the name of
the receiver. So, point, focus and then shoot!
4. Good composition: The first rule to be remembered
while taking a picture is 'keep it simple'. The picture should be
balanced in all respects; whether it is the white
space or arranging
components or subjects in the photograph. Place the components so that
the viewer captures the essence of the photograph.
5. Experiment with the light: Try changing the light
effect or play with the light available to create a beautiful picture.
Light also depicts the mood so one can use dull or low lighting to
depict sadness or shoot in bright lights to depict happiness.
6. Change the perspective: Most of the photographs are taken at eye level. Changing the view will give a new perspective and a good one too.
7. Control the brightness: A picture should not be too
dark or too bright. It should be properly balanced. D-SLR cameras have
an auto sensor that tells you whether a picture is bright or dark. A
digital camera can set the brightness of a picture right too.
8. Be dedicated: If photographs are taken by dedicating
time and thought to the process then everyone would appreciate it more
as it involves a lot of hard work and thinking. Being dedicated gives
you the best results.
9. Know your camera: Know your camera thoroughly before
you set out taking pictures. The camera is your tool. And only when you
know it well, can you use it to its maximum potential to produce a good
picture. One should be able to change the settings on it according to
the conditions available.
10. Use of flash: Flash can be used anywhere- outdoors
or indoors. It can be used to fill the light when enough natural light
is not available. But, unnecessary use of flash may destroy the picture.
11.Depth of field: The sense of depth in a picture is
very important. So determine from how from how far or near you want to
take the picture from. The depth determines the sense of reality of a
picture. Hence while taking a picture, you need to take care of the
depth of field and try to present it effectively.
12. Motion picture or shutter speed: The shutter speed
function is very important in a camera and in a moving picture, we need
to take good care of the shutter speed while showcasing a moving car or a
action picture of person. Access what sort of shutter speed the picture
would need as per light, mood and other conditions. It will make all
the difference.
13. Try multiple angle shots: Always try to take the same picture from different angles. You never know which one will give you a good photograph.
14. Wait for the correct time: You have to be patient
and wait for the correct moment. Especially in wildlife photography,
you may have to wait till you spot the animal or for something
interesting to happen.
15. Carry your camera always: Carry your camera always
as you may not know what is waiting for you. There are interesting
pictures waiting to happen everyday! Happy snapping! Courtsey- iDiva
